but i was pleasantly surprised when it turned out. yes it could have better focus, and the lighting wasnt the greatest, i believe it was shot at f2 @ iso 2500-3200, but so far this is my favourite shot of a person i have taken so far. its from a 60th birthday that i was shooting last night, still have hundreds of photos to go through. any tips for motion panning? these were my first attempts. c/c?

Yes, that 1st shot is a good one. A few thoughts on panning or slow shutter shooting.

1. Got to be relaxed but alert.
2. Practice your camera grip, both hands firm but not too tight.

3. Posture, back straight, head upright, no leaning forward or back, no hunching.
4. Elbows down against the chest.
5. Knees slightly bent, not locked, body weight distributed evenly.
6. Swing mostly from your waist & hips, minimize shoulder swing.
7. Don't hold your breath, breathe deeply slowly & evenly.
8. Practice soft shutter release action.
9. Follow through.
10 Enjoy it.

Nice information Stomie! Thanks
