I recently purchased a defective lens from B&H (faulty electronics). I used their web site to submit a return request and quickly received a prepaid UPS return label via email. About ten days later, I had a new, fully functional lens on my doorstep. Very efficient, totally painless and hard to imagine how the process could have been any better. I also returned a defective camcorder to B&H some years ago and don't recall any issues with that transaction either.

Based on my own experience, the notion of B&H intentionally making returns difficult seems specious at best. Sorry to hear that you had one unsatisfactory experience.
