I read a post a couple of days ago from someone in Australia who was getting gouged, too. Adobe stuff is overpriced and they just keep getting greedier. I'm in the U.S., but I find their business model problematic.
That said, I like CS6, but I was able to do a U.S. upgrade for $199. I'm not convinced it was worth it, but you have to buy their upgrade to get the latest Raw plug ins. It has a new appearance (big whoop), some decent Raw tweaks, a basic video interface, and some interesting filters and content aware move function (which I don't use).
If Adobe would just upgrade their Camera Raw plug in for older versions, I would still be with CS2. I assume that is why they do it.
