Based on some of the facile responses its clear that when you dont understand how perspective works you would not understand how a feature like this would be beneficial.

Perspective is a function of the distance to subject not focal length; therefore, at the same distance, a 35mm and a 50mm lens would have the same perspective - different magnification, but the same perspective. If you take a central crop of the 35mm image and magnify to the equivalent of the 50mm image you will get an identical image in terms of perspective. Having 50mm framelines inside of the 35mm view, can help you frame with the equivalent 50mm perspective at the time when you take the image; this is NOT something you can do after in post process, you cannot change the perspective once the shot is taken.
