HOW disappointed are you?

of course you're right: there is a limit

Rolls Royce is a good case in point: there was a time when they kept putting the badge on the cars, but the technology had stayed horribly behind, and their margins were obscenely fat but the cars were looking increasingly ridiculous.

We know how this ended.

So yes, up to a point, milking the cow is a good idea - but one should be careful in determining where "up to a point" lies.

If the past is a good guide however, Leica have never had any shame to come up with "special editions" of various bodies or lenses, typically just before they launched a product which really contained new technology.

So hopefully an advanced camera is being readied, one that will not need much more than 18mp but could use a wider ISO range (and ISO easier to set). And where the rear display would at least go to a "whopping" 500'000 dots like on the low-end compacts today - OK just kidding, let's say 1 million dots at least please.
