After three hard-worked years, I've given some thought to sending my D700 to Nikon for a basic check-up. There's nothing at all wrong with the camera, except that some of the rubber grips are starting to peel up. I just thought maybe it would be smart to send it in, have it checked out, have the sensor and the rest of the thing cleaned, have the grips replaced, etc.
Anyone have any experience with this sort of "basic maintenance"? I'm curious what sort of cost and turn-around time I'd likely be looking at. It's a wonderful tool and I'd like to keep it operating in top shape.
