Consider using a white background instead of black. Black is very challenging because the bright jewelry often just comes out looking white against the black background. With a white background you will still need to adjust the exposure, but it's easier to get it right. Also, in post-processing you can lighten the white until it disappears, for a floating-in-air look. Choose a perfectly clean pure white fabric and iron out any wrinkles.
