What is the 'ideal' light color

OK, let me rephrase the question.

If I shot an image of a perfectly white (or perfect grey card) piece of paper illuminated by an ideal light source (linear frequency/amplitude content through the visible spectrum), what would the light temperature be to ensure that all channels reported light levels of equal value?
