MF and Manual exposure are best way to do the moon. AF really isn't necessary as infinity is where you want to be. If you're on a telescope you will need LV for best manual focus. Manual exposure a must also as the moon face is reflected sunlight and exposure will be much shorter than the whole frame will reflect. Even a spot meter may give you incorrect readings, and matrix is out of the question.
