Re: Photo opportunities in the Carmague (France)

Chris, Though the whole area around l'Etang des Vaccares is great for bird watching it's very difficult to identify places good for photography. The views tend to be very distant. There is a visitor centre if I remember correctly near la Capeliere who may be able to help. The salt pans near Salin de Geraud can be great and don't forget places like les Baux de Provence. I had some great birds like little bustards on the plain de la Crau, though I think it's quite built up now near the road.

One word of warning, if you haven't already been told. There are organised groups of gitanes who rob cars parked all over this area, especially around the D37 parking areas. They will send "friendly" people to engage you in converstaion etc whilst the others are doing your car! So, make sure you take everything with you and leave them nothing to take.

Have a great time in this fabulous area. great restaurant in Sambuc by the way
