I can see it too, huge difference. Plus look at corners from the tamron @ 2.8
Probable Nikon kit lens 18-105 will perform better

Ether you have bad copy or you need to fine tune your AF (maybe front or back focus problem) ?

Thanks... now you've pointed out the difference is mainly in the corners I can see a difference. However I'm not in the habit of shooting bricks and find it harder to analyse than other sample images.

The only other review I've seen identified dark corners as a significant issue for the Tamron @ f2.8... possibly worse when focused close up. Would like to see more examples, but it seems the lens may be OK for portraits but not as good for landscapes.... then again how many people shoot landscapes @ 2.8?
