Re: VR & VR 2 How to know which it is.

HI!

There is almost always a lot of misinformation on threads regarding VR "I" vs "II".

Pay attention to Slimandy's answers and ignore other that are contrary

I think that if I am paying a few $$$ dollars for a lens that will probably last me a long, long time, I want to make sure it is a later one with VR2.

Well, that's more of a consideration for some lenses than others

FWIW worth, I have a number of high quality lenses that have no VR and typically could care less about it:

10.5
14-24
24-70
Zeiss 100/2
28 1.4

Then again, some of my other lenses have VR and for most of those, there are occasions where VR comes in handy

200VR (Has VR I and VR II versions.)
500VR (This is a lens that has VR II, but in its name it's just called "VR")
70-200VR (Has VR I and VR II versions)

For slower lenses, VR is often more important, and having a "better" VR can make a difference. E.g.:

18-200VR (there are VR I and VR II versions)

Best Regards,

RB
