Re: D 3200 Purchase and overseas trip AU to Europe

That is quite a story. Sorry to hear of the injury – I would be gutted just before a major trip. But what shines through is enthusiasm so I am sure that the trip will be back on before too long.

I too would pass the D3200. I have a D5100, just bought and it delivers fantastic images. Impressed with the colours, the detail and resolution and the dynamic range. I travel a lot and one of my considerations is storage, with back up. I know SD cards are cheap, but at 20MB per RAW image on the D5100 that is enough for me. Given that the D5100 does not have dual card slots I take a portable back up (nightly) so capacity is an issue when travelling for a long time.

I used to travel with just a 18-200VR, but now prefer a Sigma 10-20, Nikon 16-85 VR and a 35/f1.8. Just returned last week from five days in Venice and it was the perfect kit.

Good luck – hope the trip is back on soon.
