You can program the Fn button..

Go to the crop mode screen then select the crop you want.

I shoot mostly FX, but when I want DX I never have to take my eye off of the viewfinder.

What I did was I placed the "Image Area screen" on the top line of "My Menu". Then I set the Fn button to go to the top line of my menu. (I keep the "Choose Image Area" on the top line of my "My Menu" page all of the time.)

Press FN button, goes to crop screen. (Image Area Screen)
Punch up or down button twice.
Punch select button.
You will see the DX crop high-lighted in the viewfinder.

It becomes second nature, to go back to FX I repeat the procedure above. Try it a couple of times and you will like it a lot.

If someone knows how to jump between DX and FX with one button push I would like to know how to do that.

I hunt, I peck, I squint, all on a MacBook Pro 13" laptop. So don't laugh, I'm happy there aren't more typo's! (Love the screen and touch pad, hate the keyboard.)
