Well, Olympus makes tons of different things that requires imaging sensors. High-speed video cameras, scientific equipment of all sorts and applications, and consumer cameras with varying sensor formats. I imagine they probably have partnerships with a dozen different sensor designers and manufacturers for what isn't in fact designed in-house.

Buying Panasonic sensors have probably been a good deal, but there is no reason to believe that Olympus wouldn't go elsewhere for a better deal.
