I had no f/2.8 zooms, no ISO 6400, no VR, no AF when I was using my Pentax film gears - all I can say is, in the hands of a good photographer all of the above will improve their images.

No to rain on your parade, but if the your results are honestly better without them, you either rely on them too much or not using them properly.

In fact, yes, I believe all those are overrated, except the last one.

By reading these forums it sounds as if most photography can't be done with MF, no VR, ISO 100-1600 and prime lenses. Well, in my experience, it can (and often the results are even better).

But I see I'm in the minority, and I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, so I'll just leave it at that.
