Is there a better dx format to replace the D300 right now?

Re: Short answer: No, unless...

The D7000 has a seriously deficient buffer for action series like wildlife, it's almost not usable. If the D800 buffer can equal the D300's (I don't know if it can) then why not use this in DX mode?

I'm waiting for the D400, praying that it's just a D300 with 16 mp DX sensor with pumped up high ISO capability, faster FPS, even bigger buffer, and of course good video. Add those things for a reasonable price and I'm sold. Seriously, what more do you need? What else could Nikon add that wouldn't cut into D4 and D800 sales?

I have no use for a D800, why do I need that many pixels?
