There is more to it than sports and wildlife. I use my D200 for stage and concert, compensate for the poor high ISO performance with post-processing when possible, that is when the performers remain perfectly still. I often am at the end of my 70-200 even when I can get close to the stage. When I cannot get close, with FX I would probably need a 300 mm or 400 mm lens.

That is why no FX body can replace that. Not even the insanely popular "two cameras in one" D800. And the D7000 type body does not have the controls, and AF I need.
