In my list of spectral plots of inkjet papers the gr/m2 weight is mentioned as gsm. For all including Red River's catalog. Red River had and may still have conflicting weights mentioned in its catalog pages so I put several sheets on a balance and computed the gsm from that measurement.

It is true that gr/m2 does not tell all about the feel, rigidity, thickness of a paper but it is ways ahead of the archaic system based on reams etc still in use in many US manufacturer catalogs.
