At the wide end of the range, according to Dofmaster, the hyperfocal distance is 7.13 feet at f/1.8.

So if you can focus on about 7 feet, you'll have everything from 3.5 feet to infinity within the DOF. And if you can stop down to f/2.8, things get even easier.
