When optimum is fulfilled

What is optimum?

A combination of:
1. physical limits
2. technological limits in sensors' capabilities (and glass)
3. computing power to process files
4. storage to hold files

Physical limits (1) concern theoretical maximum and are yet to be reached by future technology (2) - e.g. without bayer pattern there could be more result-pixels rather than intermediary RGB pixels merged together to form a final result-pixel.

For example, when computing power increases (3) and storage costs go down (4)(which they both do) the expectations to have more megapixels is there.

On top of all, there are cultural expectations based on the abovementioned parameters.
