I have found that on a very bright day, if I change the screen brightness setting to "sunny weather" it is bright enough to view with the no problem. However, perhaps its just me, but to me the "sunny weather" setting is so bright that I think it gives me a false sense of what my exposure is. In other words, I might think its too bright of an exposure and I might dial in some -EV, then discover that the photo wasn't really that bright, it was just the high brightness setting on my screen. I suppose checking my histogram would be a solution, but I'm lazy about that.
