These are mass produced like cheap throw away consumer goods. Look at the videos that show how labor intensive it is to assemble a high end DSLR in Japan. The cost for doing so would be prohibited, especially since it is not required to get the problem resolved.

If a car had a defect, it wouldn't be scrapped and the buyer gets a new one.

In fact most warranty replacement terms say the manufacturer can repair or replace as they see fit.
