Re: Top 10 Minolta legacy lenses!

I see a lot of references to the 35-70 F4 lens, is it really that good for such a low price? I'm looking for a zoom option after owning only primes to date, and I've done a lot of research and read the Kurt Munger reviews, and what I don't get is that on the one hand Mr. Munger says the DT 35 1.8 is his favorite prime lens "period", and on the other he says the 35-70 is an awkward length which seems to be a recurring theme in the dyxum user reviews as well.

I have a DT 35 1.8 and that focal length (52.5mm) happens to be my favorite on a crop camera as well, so I'm trying to understand what about that that length is awkward. I suppose for under $50 it's a low-risk chance to take, but was looking to see if anyone went through the same thought process as me after reading the reviews.
