New Camera Dilemma

I've got a dilemma that maybe you all could give me advice on.

I own the original Digital Rebel 300D that I bought in 2004 and would like to upgrade soon. I'm going to Hawaii in mid July with the whole family and would really like to have the low-light capability that a new DSLR would have over my 300D and other cameras. I would also really like the high-quality video feature that I don't have now in the 300D.

I used the heck out of the 300D for the first few years I had it but it's usage has slowly tapered off since then. (I have a 17-85IS, a Sigma 10-20, Sigma 55-200 and a non-OS Bigma.) I still love my 17-85IS and would just get a body-only for an upgrade. I have always thought that I got a good copy of this lens and it seems really sharp. My 300D still works fine and it has about 8,500 shots on it.

As my usage has tapered off on the 300D, I've used an A650 (my backup) and an SX20IS (wife's camera) more and more. With this big trip coming up it really seems like the right time to upgrade to a new DSLR. That would be cool for the trip and get me back to using a DSLR over the other cameras for everything else too.

My dilemma is that I was expecting the T4i to be released by now. I don't want to get a T3i and then have the T4i come out shortly after. Since I would probably keep the next camera another 8 years, I want to get as new of camera model I can right now. But if the announcement for the T4i doesn't happen soon, I don't know whether to just not get a new camera now or go ahead and get a T3i. Money isn't an issue but I'm frugal by nature. This trip is costing me about 15K and it's a special trip for the family.

What would you guys do if you were me?
