Absolutely, cramming 10+ (even 8+) mp into such a tiny sensor then applying aggressive noise reduction makes a good picture not.

And that is exactly the problem I found when looking for a P&S, nothing handles noise sympathetically - as I say the best I've found is my wifes Samsung ST70 (great little camera for her) but doesn't give the results of that little Ixus 500.

Yes there are limitations but the good photo's it takes are better than anything more modern just some of the bad photos are horrid!

Even has an optical view finder! And how many photos at full res can you fit on even a 4gb CF card?!
