Re: Nikon 28-200mm Lens?

I've had this lens at one point with D700 and disliked it. The reason I got it was I made a mistake to paying attention to Ken Rockwell for a second and also some users reported glorious details.

So I tried all these odd lenses that people use and love:

Nikon 28-200 G

Tamron 24-135 SP

Tamron 28-105 F/2.8

Did not like the Nikon, it was nothing special, it was not very sharp, not very contrasty (my sample). Tamron 28-105 F/2.8 is of course a unique lens because no other mfr has ever made 28-105 F/2.8. The problem is it is so soft at F/2.8, it is useless. It does sharpen at F/4 so you essentially have a $300 28-105 F/4 lens. Which is huge in size weight and uses 82mm filters. So that had to go too.

Tamron 24-135 SP is actually the sharpest of these three odd lenses. Not bad, but there are better modern lenses.
