Good glass on your XSI is bound to be an improvement from the kit lenses you have now. The 100-400 probably looks really good on your Xsi and your kit lenses are OK. But put a good L quality like the EFS's 15-85 or 17-55, or L 24-105 and you might just see an improvement. The 7d has a real learning curve and the one poster has had some real issues with his, but the default settings on the 7D are not good for starting out with the camera. I know from experience. Way way better auto focus and speed on the 7D than your Xsi. And the viewfinder is great!
