D3200 better resolution than D800?

One of the things people love about the D800 is the amazing resolution that is had by packing 36 MP onto an FX sized sensor.

Along comes the D3200 with 24 MP on a DX sized sensor!

In theory, that means it will be able to resolve more detail than the D800, correct? I guess that depends on AA filter and putting a great lens on it.

Simply amazing what these new generation of cameras are offering!
