Confused about angle of view

I'm trying to decide on an UWA for my D300s. It seems the angle of view is related to length in a non-obvious way. Here are three examples: The widest angle of view is a 10 mm, the next is an 11 mm, and the narrowest is a 10 mm:

Are these differences real? That is, on a DX camera, is there really a difference of close to 7 degrees between the Nikkor and the Sigma? Or is this due to differences in measuring or having a third-party vs. Nikkor lens?

Unfortunately, I live where lenses need to be mail ordered, so I can't go to a store and actually try them out.
