It's interesting that Nikon has a 0.75x wide converter for their P7000/P7100 camera, which is pretty much a clone of the G11/G12. User reviews on Amazon and B&H give it high marks for sharpness and low distortion. The product image on their websites show a lens that could be a twin for my Canon 0.75x wide converter. I'm still not sure why the wide converter does not work for me with my G11, but the Nikon system seems to work just fine for them. The P7000/P7100 lens has a zoom range of 28mm - 200mm, while the G cameras are 28mm - 140mm, so there might be something to do with the zoom range vs lens design. The wide converter I have was designed to work on my G9 with 35mm - 210mm zoom.
Absolutely right Dennis, and I think there people that use this Nikon lens with canon G12 with a step down ring 58-55, but when you say that you didn't like your canon wide lens what exactly was the problem for you... did you use it with the sort adapter or with the big one that is only for macro and tele...??
