New version of Digital Photo Pro released by Canon W/HDR

Canon has released a new version of Digital Photo Professional, ver. 3.11.26: This is the site for the 5D3 updates. Select your Operating System and download the update. A previous version of DPP must already be installed.

Changes for Digital Photo Professional 3.11.26

Now supports the following new lenses: EF24mm F2.8 IS USM, EF28mm F2.8 IS USM, EF24-70mm F2.8L II USM, EF500mm F4L IS II USM, EF600mm F4L IS II USM
Supports images taken with EOS 5D Mark III, EOS-1D X.
The digital lens optimizer function has been added.
The multiple image composition and HDR tools have been added.

Fixed a phenomenon that occurred when processing RAW images, the original image characteristics could not be obtained.

Fixes a malfunction that occurs when using the quick check tool to check a large volume of images.

The HDR and DLO (Digital Lens Optimizer) capability look interesting. Here is what it says about DLO:
"Using the Digital Lens Optimizer

This function enables the resolution of images to be increased by removing any remaining aberration related to image-forming capability or any deterioration of resolution resulting from diffraction phenomena that are unavoidable as long as light must pass through the lens. These optical phenomena cannot be corrected under [Lens aberration correction]. Correction is achieved using the designed value of each lens. The images that can be corrected are RAW images shot using any of the "compatible cameras" and "compatible lenses". JPEG, TIFF, S-RAW, and M-RAW images cannot be corrected. For details on compatible cameras and lenses, refer to the "Digital Photo Professional Instruction Manual" (PDF electronic manual). To use this function, [Lens data] for the lens used to shoot images first needs to be downloaded to your computer. Before using the Digital Lens Optimizer, it is recommended that you set [Sharpness] or [Strength] for [Unsharp mask] for images to 0."

Applying the DLO approximately DOUBLES the size of your RAW file!

The HDR tool allows you to select 2 or 3 images to merge, or make an HDR from a single image, but I haven't tried that yet.

A lot of interesting changes! Let me know what you think!

When you get down to the nuts and bolts of photography, the results depend on the 'nut' behind the camera!
