My understanding (before my picture started this argument) was the term was based on the shadows, and contrast.

My goal was flat lighting with hot highlights, few shadows, and a white background. Doing this without overexposure was also the plan.

If my desired look has a name, I don't know it. If is is not high key, please excuse my calling it that.

Regardless of my loose understanding of high key, I got the shots I wanted, and have learned a ton in the process.
