Look at the Sigma 12-24, it's a full frame lens, and less expensive than the Canon 16-35, but it's only an f4.5-5.6. As an alternative, Tokina makes a 16-28 f2.8 that retails for less than $900.

Are you talking about the Sigma 12-24 or the Sigma 12-24 II? Or are they both FF?

The Sigma 12-24 (I) costs about $675 US and the Sigma 12-24 II about $950 US on Amazon. The first is discontinued but is still available on Amazon.

The Tokina looks like a much more usable lens at f/2.8, but I don't now anything about its IQ. Have you used any of these?

I've used a Sigma 12-24 (I) on my 5DII and I'm not satisfied with the results. It was actually 'better' indoors in a low light/mixed light architectural situation than on outdoor shots, and I'm after landscape use primarily.
Best regards, Sandy
