X Pro-1 in the Studio

Hi there,

I'm looking for a new Studio camera, my Canon 5D is being sold and I've always been a fan of Fuji cameras like the S5 Pro for there out of camera skin tones.

Mainly looking at head shots and 3/4 body shots.

I've seen many superb shots from the X Pro-1, especially like the skin tones. however the reoccurring theme is the issue with the auto focus and with many people also saying manual focus is next to useless.

I have around £3.5k as a budget.

So am I mad to want the Fuji, or should I go with a 5D MKII or a D700 as they are proven cameras and with the D700 a very good AF system.

Here's a couple of links to two photographers who have been shooting the Fuji in the studio.

He tested the Fuji in the Studio and said.

"The Fuji X-Pro 1 produced beautiful images with great-looking skin tones, but was rather disappointing in terms of autofocus – it just could not seem to lock well to my subject in indoors environment. I will be writing about my overall impressions of the Fuji X-Pro 1 soon, but to give you a short version, I am rather disappointed by it."

Another Studio session, again mentions the focus issue, but was more positive overall.
