I love your series for several reasons:

Many thanks Roel

  • first and foremost : you have captured great natural expressions on almost all of these subjects

  • your processing, with just a hint of colour fade but nothing overdone, fits the series wonderfully

I found that on some images where I had inadvertantly included people in the background their bright colourful clothing really stood out so desaturating the colour slightly helped by not detracting from the main subject

  • it seems like a great place to visit (your shot of the soldier with the double decker going under a bridge gives a great impression of how delightful the setting must be) and the re-enacters seem devoted to "getting it right" and "staying in character" (when I last visited re-enactments, there was always some kind of modern element like a modern soda-can on the table, that ruined the impression

This is definitely a place and event I would go crazy about if I could visit it.

It is certainly a great venue and a delight to photograph especially when the people there enjoy having their picture taken..I'm pretty sure these kind of events happen all over so you would be able to find one not too far away

Cheers Steve
