Look forward to seeing some close up bird pictures which we do not often see on this forum. I suppose if you can get into a hide you will be able to support it. Best of luck.

Did you hire a caddy to carry the kit for you? I always think it would be great if I won a lot of money to have a full time photographic caddy to carry tons of kit and recommend the right camera and lens that Sir should use for the shot.

I found it easy enough to carry but difficult to hand-hold for manual focusing. The right hand is occupied with focusing, so the whole weight must be supported by the left hand. The combination is front-heavy and the tripod mount/hand grip only long enough for three fingers. so it is hard to stop tilting forward. The focusing ring dragged against the knuckles of my left hand, which didn't help. Auto-focus would be easier because then both hands could be used for support.

What do you normally use the lens for as it is a pretty specialised bit of kit?

I have only had it a few days but bought it to use for birding. The golf course where I tried it out and the adjoining "Paradise Park" are well known bird spots and I was hoping to find some Crimson Rosellas and Eastern Rosellas.
