Some of it is to do with attitude. Try Microsoft support versus Apple Care.

More and more it is to do with the seamless integration with other stuff - I tunes, I books, I pad, I phone, Time Machine, etc etc.

The programs you mention will work on Apple too. The only reason for not switching would be to save money - pcs are often cheaper, but then they also tend to cut some corners when you take a really close look.

I use macs but here's a difference: Windows supports older machines - they might be craptastic (or not) but in a few years your mac will be a very nicely built doorstop.
