Now, the lens is at the service (with the body) for calibration. I'm going for it on Monday and it'll turn out if the focus can be calibrated properly.
It costs as much as sending would cost to exchange so could be a good solution.

I hope they can fix it but I'm still not 100% sure. They said the lens has a moderate front focus issue that can be corrected via software calibration so no disassembling is needed.

However I heard a better idea to "fix" the focus issue: first the guy at the service told me to turn up the in-camera jpeg sharpening and it will improve on the softness issue significantly. Made my day..

Anyway, I'll report on the outcome.
