I want full frame - Not 5D MKIII

I really really want a full frame camera. I have a 14mm MKII that is crying every time I put it on my 1D MKIV. On the other end, I have a 70-200mm 2.8 IS and 300mm 2.8 IS and 1.4x and 2x extenders. On the MKIV the 300mm + 2x = 780mm. (I shot a lunar eclipse with it) I rarely use that combo and think that 600mm on FF would be more than adequate.

So I was really hoping that for a square trade (or a small "upgrade" fee) I could exchange the 1D MKIV for the 5D MKIII. The AF of the MKIII should be as good or better, the IQ would surely be a bit better and 6 FPS would meet my needs most of the time. So I went to my local shop to be "sold" a 5D MKIII.

It is hard to explain exactly what the differences were, but after using a 1D MKIV for a year (traded up from a 5D MKII), the MKIII felt... Cheap. Plastic. Uncomfortable. It sounded cheap and plastic as well. The shutters are worlds apart. I am not saying the MKIII is better or worse, it just came across to me as a MUCH cheaper camera. A toy comparably.

I'll wait and buy the 1DX.
