Re: Get a D800 to make your 14-24 effectively 14-36 equiv

Hi dnercesian,

I got the D800 2 weeks back - and actually did the photos of different focal lengths & crops with D800 + 14-24. I customized the Fn buttons on both the D3s and the D800 to use with the main/sub dial to do the crop - so its very easy to do the 1.2x and 1.5x crops (at 24mm for 28.8mm and 36mm equivalent) in addition to zooming. The results look fine with the D800 - but been too lazy to upload & no artistic value to the pics of angle of view at different focal lengths. The effective range of angles is quite wide.

With the 70-200 VR as a second lens that gives a great combo - and both of them fit well even in my smaller bag with the D800 (Lowepro flipside 300).

Yeah I tried that on a D700 once. Didn't like it. Again, I shoot people once in a while at 35mm and that little extra space I can give my subject works for me. I'm just going to get the 17-35 for now and have the 14-24 handy when I need it. Might buy a D800 soon too, just because it is too tempting.
