sample images: EF 100-400L vs EF 400 5.6L
Am giving Photobucket a try.
One image is with the EF4005.6L
The other is with EF100-400L
-camera: 40D, on tripod
-both lenses at 400mm
-mode Program AE
The focus point is on the brass lamp to the left of the door trim, next to the green shutter.
Issue: The 400 prime is significantly sharper than the 100-400. I have read numerous reports of these two lenses' capabilities, but I didn't know the difference would be so noticeable. Do these two images show an appropriate, normal difference between the two lenses, or does the 100-400 look worse than it should by comparison?
Since the 100-400 is only 2 months old, I'm thinking of sending it to Canon for tweaking.
What do you think?
