shockingly, it seems like we are actually on the same page.

Keep in mind also that 1dx is a 6800 camera. Much less within budget of many, hence generates less static.

Indeed 1d4 is an excellent camera also. My point is that over the last 3 years, any improvement in noise as it pertains to final output (not per pixel noise) has been minor, both on canon and Nikon side.

The 1dx will offer a more robust built, faster fps, and longer lasting shutter. it may have marginal (though I doubt) improvement in high iso shooting, for the same prints size. For certain segment, esp the sports photographer, it will be well worth the extra money.
