"only" 400$ less than the Nikon version, but it offers stabilization. I just hope that the construction and optics are on par with the Nikon 24-70mm lens.

More like $620 as the Nikon 24-70 2.8G is $1887 new. By the looks of the Tamron 24-70, the construction is almost exactly like their DX version, the 17-50 VC. Which is to say it's not anywhere near the Nikon in build quality. Optics, we have no idea. If I were a betting man I'd say it might be 80% as good. If it's uses the same optics as the Tamron 28-75 it will be a long way off from the Nikkor. Not the the 28-75 is a bad lens. It just not great on FF.

Hopefully, Nikon will come out with a refreshed version with VRII. The actual version is already nano coated and offers stellar resolution.

That would be great so I can pick-up a nice hardly used 24-70 2.8G ED on Ebay.
