I don't think the focal length in that range is all that drastic to warrant a zoom. It pretty much can be covered by moving your feet forward or backward. I use the 15mm and 35mm for anything in that range, especially family shots. If I need to really zoom, then I would use a 50 to whatever range zoom lens. The zooms you mentioned are much bigger than the 35mm. I can't see carrying a tin can on the front of my camera just to get to 50mm. And you get macro.

I love the 35 macro. It's a gem.
