Need help deciding between 2 Canon models for shooting art

I've been reading for days now and still can't decide between these two lower end Canon Rebel body models-- XSi 450D and T3 1100D. When the XSi came out, the general opinion of reviews seemed very high. Less so with the more recent T3. Still they seem very similar in features, with the higher ISO capability of the T3 being the biggest difference I see (I don't need video so that T3 feature isn't important to me). In either case I will be using the Canon EF 50mm f/2.5 macro lens, not the standard kit lenses. Does the T3 being the newer model make it a better bet? With the XSi I would be buying reconditioned.

My primary needs beyond moderate cost are the ability to shoot very sharp detail in flat, textured artwork from 2-3 feet away and also from less than a foot away to show cropped details. I will always be using a tripod with shutter release. Shooting will always be indoors with natural light augmented with some daylight-calibrated lights, but they are not professional strength. I would rather not be limited to shooting only on days with bright sunlight, but would like to shoot also on days with lesser light if possible.

Thank you so much for any advice. I am truly paralyzed by trying to slice out any advantage of one model over the other.

Canon EOS 1100D (EOS Rebel T3 / EOS Kiss X50) Canon EOS 450D (EOS Rebel XSi / EOS Kiss X2)
