Sigma 30mm 2.8 a good lens, but not fast enough

It's nice seeing the lens available, and some of the nice pictures posted here, but to me it's just not fast enough to get it. at 2.8 max aperture, it's less than 1 1/3 stop fast than the kit lens at the same aperture, and has no OSS. it's cheap, but still more expensive than the kit lens, and has barely any advantages over it.

I'm not a need-for-speed aperture fan, but when it's not that much fast than a kit zoom, it seems hard to justify the need of it. Sigma's made 30mm 1.4 for DSLRs, it seems like a 30mm 2.0 shouldn't be that hard, and most folks will be very willing to pay an extra $100 or so for it.

Folks here boast about it optics; how does it compare with the kit lens or SEL18200 lens at similar focal lengths then?
