Replacing the X-Pro1 Lens Hoods

The plastic lens hoods for the 18mm and 35mm lenses are very odd - like crashed coke cans!

They also prevent access to filters such as CPL or rotating ND grads - meaning you have to remove the lens hood to rotate the filter - then re-attach the hood to take the shot.

So I've gone ahead and sourced 52mm metal vented lens hoods from EBAY to replace them - much better looking, more practical, and they work just as well.

Here on the 18mm lens

$5 a piece - all metal - lovely fit and finish AND you can now use the existing Fujifilm pinch caps that came with the lenses, and they fit perfectly

And of course, you look through the vent when using the OVF - so no obscuration issues.

60mm hood is fine and doesn't need replacing BTW.
