Don;t forget for each year there is an acumilation of failures. If the stats go far enough every lens will show 100% failure rate.

Than take the statistics for the glass manufactured in 2011-2012 and still covered by the warranty.

To get decent stats you need to define ... 1 how long should a modern lens last ?

At least 2 years after a two year warranty. 5-6 years all together hopefully

2 what percentage of failure rate is acceptable to meet item 1

Less than 5% would be nice

And with these slanted polled results you probably need to slash at least 50% of the 'failed' results to get s reasonable feeling for failures Vs sold
Statistics and dxmed lies.

In other words, 50% of pentax forum users that participated in the poll are liars:

  • Is there something special about Pentax SDM that attracts liars?

  • Or are liars more likely to participate in SDM polls?

And my feeling for the figures (current 6 year rating)...

Your feeling told you that the low light AF issue was resolved by K-5's 1.03 FW, while LumoLabs study suggests the opposite. Sorry, I can't trust your feelings after that.
