Canon really blew it with the 1D III. Many of them had to be handled in for repairs. That makes a bad reputation of a brand. Not a good job for Canon. Not at all.

And as you say "If that is true......". Do you really think Canon are really any less or more reliable than Nikon? Despite what a guy in a shop says. He might possibly have some axe to grind (an ulterior motive in other words).

Anyway any company can have a glitch now and then. Look at Toyota recently. Or Apple with the phone that wouldn't work properly when used by left handed users. Or ........................................ etc., etc. Need I go on?

What matters is that the company concerned resolves the problem and also learns something positive from that bad experience.
